Before Surgery
Preparing for surgery is an important step in achieving the best possible outcome. Dr Arora will take the time to explain your procedure so you feel informed and confident.
You may be involved in prehabilitation and discharge planning. This helps you prepare physically and ensures that the right support is arranged for your recovery at home.
Medication management is also an important part of preparation. Please let us know about all medications you are taking, as some may need to be adjusted or paused before surgery.
If you smoke, reducing or stopping in the lead-up to surgery can greatly improve healing and reduce the risk of complications.
You will also receive fasting instructions. Following these carefully is essential for your safety during anaesthesia.
After Surgery
After surgery, managing your pain is an important part of your recovery. Dr. Arora will guide you on the best medications and strategies to help keep discomfort under control so you can rest and heal comfortably.
Swelling is common, particularly after lower limb procedures. Simple steps such as keeping your leg elevated, moving gently as advised, and using compression can help reduce swelling and support your recovery.
You may be provided with a cast, backslab, surgical shoe, or brace to protect the area that was operated on. These devices help you move safely while your body heals.
Dressings will cover your incision site to keep it clean and protected. You will receive instructions on how to care for them and when they should be changed or removed.
Follow-up appointments are an important part of your recovery. They allow Dr. Arora to check how well you are healing, remove sutures or dressings if needed, and make any adjustments to your care plan to ensure the best outcome.
Should you have any questions about your recovery, our team is here to support you at any time.
